Wildlife Habitats
Tinicum and the surrounding region are home to a wonderful diversity of wildlife. Who doesn’t love to glimpse a family of foxes playing at the forest edge, or a flock of bluebirds berry-hunting on a snow-covered Hawthorne tree, or a rare butterfly flitting about the sunny garden? No matter the size of your property, you can invite wildlife to visit and stay by providing proper habitat. The following resources will help you provide the five major components of good wildlife habitat: food, water, protective cover, places to raise young and sustainable land management practices.
Tip: Love birds? Did you know that very few of our native birds are seed-eaters? That means that most birds won’t visit a birdseed feeder, but prefer the berries, nuts, fruits and insects found on our native plants! Plant a diversity of native plants to bring a wide variety of birds to your property!
